Safeguarding children

Policy statement

Mobile phones play an increasing part in everyone’s lives, but The Cherry Tree believes that in order to ensure the protection of the children in its care, certain procedures for mobile phone use within the Nursery need to be abided by.

Procedures

  • All mobile phones must be stored in the kitchen draw during the session
  • Private calls may be taken, but the person must not be in the presence of any children
  • When visitors/parents are attending they must also follow the same procedure
  • All images are developed by a member of staff, and are strictly for use within the Nursery, learning journeys and our website (with parental consent)

Legal framework
Primary Legislation

  • Children Act (1989 s47)
  • Protection of Children Act (1999)
  • Data Protection Act (1998)
  • The Children Act (Every Child Matters) (2004)
  • Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006)

Further guidance
