The Cherry Tree Pre-Nursery is for children aged between 12 months and 3 years old. It is owned and run by Ann Barrett who has over thirty five years' experience caring for pre-school children, including caring for nine children of her own. It was established just after the birth of her first child in 1989. It has been based in Notting Hill, London for the last 15 years after moving from its previous premises in Pottery Lane, Holland Park where it had been for 14 years.
We use the revised EYFS foundation stage profiles to record the children's profiles and we also use "every child matters".
"Often this is the first time your child has been separated from you; therefore, it is very important to us that you child is settled and happy with us. We work closely with parents to help with any separation anxiety by involving the parents in the settling in process and letting them stay with their child for an hour each morning until we feel that your child is confident to be left for a short time. We find that doing it gradually and gently pays off in the long run and therefore when the child moves on the transition is so much easier and they spend the first week in their new place making new friends and not going through separation anxiety and tears. We work well as a team drawing on the huge experience and patience to make the child feel welcome." Ann
In July 2015 we resigned our Ofsted registration. This was due to an issue with outdoor space. The nursery is situated in a huge, bright room with a capacity of 20 under 3 year olds. Despite this, we take only 10 children per session so they have double the space to play freely; with ride on cars and sand and water tables.
